Developer Description
Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc was developed and published by Ubisoft, a French video game company renowned for creating some of the industry’s most iconic franchises. The development was led by Ubisoft’s Montpellier studio, under the creative direction of Michel Ancel, the original creator of the Rayman series.
Ubisoft Montpellier was already known for its innovative approach to platformers, and with Hoodlum Havoc, the team sought to take the franchise in a slightly edgier, more comedic direction. This installment introduced more dynamic combat, stylized visuals, and cinematic presentation—features that reflected Ubisoft’s growing ambition to compete with other major 3D platformers of the era.
The game also featured high-quality voice acting and a custom-built engine that allowed for fluid animation and complex enemy AI, showcasing the technical expertise of the development team.
By blending classic Rayman charm with modern gameplay innovations, Ubisoft reinforced its reputation as a creative force in game development—one that would later go on to produce hits like the Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry series.
